UPDATE – 2017 Sgt Shane Duffy Softball Tournament Saturday, July 15

.

Freedom is not free. The Duffy family lives with that reality every day as Shane paid the ultimate sacrifice on June 4, 2008. This year we were honored to be able to have a ML team in the Memorial Softball Tournament. Thanks to Greg’s friends in North Dakota that did some fundraising for this event, we were thrilled to be able to present the family with a $1000 check for Shane’s Memorial Fund! The competition was stiff but we managed to place 3rd (even though only first place counts)! Thanks to the folks that came from out of town to be a part of this Team (Kelly, Jon, Nick & Chuck). Already people are planning for next years’ team! Stay tuned! #OneTeamOneFight

(ORIGINAL POST)
Sgt. Shane Duffy of Taunton, MA was a fun and loving son, brother, husband and father. He was killed in combat in Iraq, along with two of his comrades, on June 4, 2008, just weeks before his 23rd birthday. This hometown hero’s family started a Memorial Scholarship which is aided in part by an annual co-ed softball tournament.

We are happy to announce that this year Makin’ Lemonade will be entering a team along with partner Pistol Pete’s Barbershop. It is our goal to raise more funds than required to help support this worthy cause. If you want to support this fundraiser, please contact us at info@makinlemonade.org.

Come join us on Saturday, July 15th at Hartson Fields, 100 Longmeadow Road, Taunton. Games start at 9am. Free to watch; raffles and 50/50 if you want to participate! For more info go here. Hope to see you out supporting a Gold Star Family as they honor their loved one, Shane. God Bless America, God Bless Our Troops and God Bless Our Gold Star Families.
